Endlessly Dawdling on Games and YouTube... "Is It Actually Addiction?!"

The Other Side of "Developing Talent Through What They Love"

Looking at parenting these days, "individual dignity" and "living freely" have come to be valued highly, haven't they?

The positive educational idea of "Let children do what they love to the fullest and help their talents grow!" also seems to have taken firm root.

But behind that wonderful ideal, when you look at real daily life, the view is a little different.

Before you know it, there's your child hunched over at home, staring at a smartphone screen. 📱⚡️

It sounds nice to say "I'm letting them do what they love," but in reality...

"Where are the friends to play with? 🤔" (There are simply too few children around in the first place.)

"Park rules are too strict ❌" (No balls, no loud voices... what are they even supposed to do?)

With that background, isn't the reality that more and more parents are surrendering (with a half-rolled-eyes laugh) to "In the end, all we can do is let them play games and social media at home"?

"What I really want is for them to get muddy outside and run around energetically with friends... 😢"
Deep down they hold that wish, yet feel unsettled by the gap with reality. Parents' real inner conflicts like this fill the world of parenting today.

The Faint Hope That "They'll Get Bored Eventually" Gets Shattered

Somewhere in our minds we may hold a faint hope based on our own childhoods: "They'll quit games and videos once they get bored. I did." 💭

But unfortunately, today's digital world is a monster on a different level from the "Mario" and "Tamagotchi" we played as kids (lol).

It's no longer the kind era of "buy the game, clear it all, and that's the end. Done!"

Now the basic play is free, and the operators keep updating tirelessly, sparing no sleep, pouring in new content again and again. There are even bottomless places like "Roblox," where geniuses from around the world create new games by the second. 🎮

The same goes for the worlds of social media and video. On TikTok and YouTube Shorts, clever AI serves up, with just a scroll, an endless stream of exactly what kids like ("You like this, don't you? 😏"), like an all-you-can-eat noodle refill.

In other words, a supreme system has been built that keeps completely satisfying children's endless desires: "I want to watch more!" and "What's next?"

As they get older, some children will naturally drift away from the screen and return to "real life." But that's not true for everyone. There will surely also be children who sink deep into the swamp and can't come back, along a kind of gradient.

That is how strong the "pull" of today's games and social media has become: a gravity that hooks people and won't let go, as strong as a black hole.

Honestly, against this enormous digital gravity, we parents have to arm ourselves and face it head-on.

🧠 Daily Life Freezes... Is It a Sign That "the Brain Has Been Hijacked"?

In fact, what visibly shows up when kids get too absorbed in games and social media is a "breakdown of daily rhythm."

Do everyday actions they should do next, such as eating, changing clothes, and brushing teeth, no longer go smoothly, as if time had stopped?

An endless loop of "Just one more time!" and "After this video!" 🔄

You call out and get only a vague "Uh-huh..." while their mind is on the other side of the screen 😑
Every priority in daily life gets pushed behind "the screen."

These are not simply problems of a child who "won't listen" or has a "sloppy personality."

In fact, from too much gaming or social media, the brain's activity itself has been "occupied (hacked)" by the digital world.

Because the brain's energy, awareness, and ability to think for themselves have all been carried off to the other side of the screen, there isn't a single millimeter of brain memory left to spare for the "tooth brushing" or "changing clothes" right in front of them.

The impact on children is far too strong to shrug off as "just the times" or "an environment we can't help."

How do we pull children back from this powerful "pull" and take back real life?

Perhaps the real battle, one that will use up all our parental wisdom, patience, and stamina, starts here. 🔥💪🏽
